Creative Scrappers #136/Kraft it Up/Sketches in Thyme

Tonight I worked on this layout for the Creative Scrappers Challenge.  I finally got to play with the Sassafras Indie Girl papers I've been saving for the right layout.  Here's the challenge sketch.  I love this picture of her despite the hair hanging in her face :D  Also for the Kraft it up December Challenge, because this is one of her Christmas pictures we took at the beach :D  And a 3-Fer with the Sketches in Thyme Open Challenge this week!

Catching Up.

Seeing I was so busy & unable to post much of the month of December, I figured I'd do one big post and show you what I worked on in between the chaos of the Holidays!

I just can't get enough of this picture, I love it.  The white paper in the background I picked up when I was at Pearl last week with Amy.  It's just amazing.  The flower I made also with some handmade paper I got there, painted the pink layers with Glimmer Glam and then the edges with Stickles.

This is just a girly layout that I was messing around with, not sold on it, but it's cute.

I love this one!  I mean what's not to love about my 2 favorite people and October Afternoon?

This one is my 2 brothers with me & Julia.. my poor husband was trying to get a good picture of us, and we all kept goofing off.  Paper is Pretty Little Studio & OA wild card.

My hubby took this picture one day while I was at work for a Mother's Day card he had made for me.  I knew something was up because he had gone through all my stuff to find stuff to make it :D  But I love the picture... She was playing in her room in just her undies.  Background paper is Pretty Little Studio.

I'm still working on this, but taking a break from it... it's driving me nuts!  This is OA Modern Homemaker.

And finally, my attempt at making a rolled paper flower!  haha!  I can't wait to get my hands on the Imaginsce tool the Petal roller... I haven't seen it yet locally I might just have to order it online.  Paper is Pretty Little Studio.

Oh and my Christmas Presents:

I'm so proud of my hubby this year he did very
well!  I totally wasn't expecting the Gypsy, nor
would I of ever gotten one for myself.  But I have to say that I love it already!  So now I've found more & more cartridges that I want!!!  Haha!  To ebay I go!

Sketches in Thyme

I wasn't going to post, but then I saw the new sketch up at Sketches in Thyme, and I just got these prints printed, and well I couldn't resist the challenge!  Canvas Circle, My Mind's Eye Papers, JB Bingo card, OA alphabet, Thickers painted green and distressed.  I'm SUPER HAPPY with this layout.  Julia loves dancing on the beach and I snapped these inbetween the poses for her Christmas Card pictures this year.  Enjoy.

I've been BUSY!

I'm sorry I haven't been posting much!  It's been insane of course!  Between getting all my gifts finished and my shopping done and all the baking, phew I still have to work 48+ a week!  I haven't been doing much scrapping, but I did create this frame for my boss who loves to read.  I'm totally loving the whole book pages blooms, I hope she likes it!  I'm working the next 9 days straight, so I probably won't be on much!  But just incase I hope everyone has a wonderful christmas!

Scrap it With a Song (Just the Way You Are)

Hi there!  It's been a long week!  Sorry I haven't posted all week!  I just whipped up this layout tonight while my hubby and I were talking for the Scrap it With a Song challenge this week of the Bruno Mars song "Just the way you are."  I love that song, and I'm always singing it to Julia so it was perfect.  It's pretty much all OA paper except the Bazzill green.  I'm loving the mixed font look lately!  I also purchased the Bazzill In Stitch 8" circle template over at the Scrapbook Cottage and wanted to try it out!  I've got a busy week ahead of me & a lot of Holiday shopping to finish!  eeek!  I hope everyone has a warm wednesday!!  Thanks for all your love and support!!

Sketch Challenges.

It's 2FER-TUESDAY!  The layout above is my take on the sketch below!  It's for Sassy Lil' Sketches & Sketches in Thyme current challenges.  The paper is OA Campfire I picked up today at the Paper Niche & the stickers are also OA Schoolhouse.  As you can tell my little brother has been on my mind a lot lately and there isn't much that I can do for him now, he's got to figure it out on his own.  My daughter reminds me a lot of him at times, they are both way to smart for their own good, stubborn as all and very strong willed.  They were both the same age when they "ran-away" from home and they are both very needy as well.  I just hope that she makes better life choices for herself.

The Sketches in Thyme Mavens have a challenge going where you can enter up to 3 layouts that you followed a sketch on, This one happens to be a Sketch that I came up with one day & then created this layout :D  So I am entering this one too!

Book Pages Frame

I ran across this idea on the ACOT webpage and thought it was awesome, they used it to make a Holiday wreath, but I thought that it would be perfect for a teacher's gift.  I bought a 5x7 frame at the dollar store that was ugly as ugly could be, picked up an old book at the thrift store for $.50 and punched about 200 circles to make all the blooms.  The flowers are Prima that I picked up at Michael's 40% off.  So all in all, a really great, inexpensive gift seeing everything else I already had :D  I'm getting there with the handmade gifts :D  I'm actually loving it!  I hope everyone has a great (what's left of it) weekend!!

Christmas Ornament Gifts :D

I love making homemade gifts for the holidays, I usually bake up a storm, making cinnamon oatmeal cookies, snickerdoodles, cupcakes and fancy chocolate covered pretzel rods and a few more depending on time!  I also love making ornaments, cards, etc to give with the baked goods.  I'm sure like most of you everything this season is being done on a budget!  I started picking up my baking supplies as the grocery stores had them on sale over the past month and I'm pretty much all stocked up for 1/2 the price I usually spend!  I also wanted to share with you these super cute ornaments that I made!  I made 12 ornaments for UNDER $5!  Here's the shopping list!
  • 2 Packages of Rattan Balls from the Dollar Tree   - $2
  • 2 Picks of Holly I purchased at ACMoore on Sale  - $.59
  • 1 Roll of Holiday Ribbon I got at Michaels           - $1.00
  • 1 Sheet of festive holiday paper                        - $.80
I took some burplap string and tied it to the ball to make a hanger.  Then I made a bow and glued it to the top, snipped off a bit of holly and glued it into the ball.  I then printed on my computer the "Merry Christmas" and punched it out with my 1/2" punch pop dotted it over a 1" scallop I punched out of the Holiday paper and hot glued it right on the ball!  So that's 12 ornaments for under $5!

What are some of the ideas that you all are working on for the holidays?  I also created a cute and simple package embellishment to hang of presents and bags to give it that special touch.  I made 48 of these for a little over $3.  I purchased the evergreen pipe cleaners at the dollar store a package of 12 for $1.  You cut the greens in half and then twist the ends together making a little wreath, and similar to the ornament the "Happy Holidays" scalloped circle.  I also purchased some thin braided holiday ribbon at Michaels and used about 1/2 of it for the 48 wreaths making the ties on the top.  I have no idea what I'm gonna do with 48, but I'll figure it out!  Haha!

Scrap It With a Song (Winter Wonderland)

Sleigh bells ring, are you listening,
In the lane, snow is glistening
A beautiful sight,
We're happy tonight,
Walking in a winter wonderland.

Gone away is the bluebird,
Here to stay is a new bird
He sings a love song,
As we go along,
Walking in a winter wonderland.

In the meadow we can build a snowman,
Then pretend that he is Parson Brown
He'll say: Are you married?
We'll say: No man,
But you can do the job
When you're in town.

Later on, we'll conspire,
As we dream by the fire
To face unafraid,
The plans that we've made,
Walking in a winter wonderland.

In the meadow we can build a snowman,
And pretend that he's a circus clown
We'll have lots of fun with mister snowman,
Until the other kids knock him down.

When it snows, ain't it thrilling,
Though your nose gets a chilling
We'll frolic and play, the Eskimo way,
Walking in a winter wonderland.

Over at Scrap it With a Song the current challenge was  based on the song Winter Wonderland by Pat Boone.  I made this page using lots of my punches.  I love what you can create with punches!!! I hope you all enjoy it!!

First Up: Scrap it With a Song - Challenge: ABC Jackson 5

Secondly: Sketches in Thyme  Challenge: Sketch Challenge
I have this Bo Bunny Dot addiction.  I made this with my Bo Bunny scraps :D  Every little piece I save.  Alot of doodling.  Background is hand drawn and a little bit of stamping.  I think it's simple, yet cute!

Last but not least: The Paper Variety  Challenge: Sketch Challenge
I have fallen in love with Pretty Little Studio paper!  The swiss dots and the blue stripes is PLS paper.  I had some Girl Scout rub-ons to add a GS flare.  And of course the pins & bowling ball are Jolees.  This one I made for Julia's Girl Scout Album!

My Baby Brother...

I made this layout for 2 challenges, but mostly to deal with my feelings about what's going on with my little brother lately.  I'm worried about him, he's in California, thousands of miles away from family because he's got no where to go.  He's pretty much burned all his bridges, and he's done it to himself, well his addiction has caused him to do it.  At 25 I can't imagine all what he's put himself through, makes me sad.  So basically he needs to stop playing games with his life, I don't want to lose him.  When we don't hear from him for a few days we all fear for the worst, he won't call me because he's ashamed of himself.  I miss my baby bro, hurry up and find yourself.

I made this to fit into the following challenges.
Sketch Challenge at Sketches in Thyme
And recipe challenge at The Paper Variety

Flowers!!

I'm sure you have all pretty much figured out that I totally love making my own flower embellishments!  I learned how to make these last night thanks to YouTube!!!  I also got so many great ideas and tips, not sure how productive 4 hours on YouTube watching flower making videos is, but HOW COOL IS THIS!!!  I'm so excited.  I made them in all different sizes, super easy.  I used the Glimmer Glam from Tattered Angels that I am totally in love with to give it a little bling!  Thanks for checking it out!

Friends Layout

I finally made it back in the scrap-room!  Yay!  I've felt so blah and thank God that I felt semi-normal today!  So I created this 2-fer tonight!  The Paper Niche's challenge this week is the word Time and over at Scrap it With a Song it's "You've got a Friend in Me" so I created this :D  It's the first 8.5x11 that I've done in ages, But I'm really happy with it, I might try to do a few more this size.  The paper is Prima and Crate.  The flowers are mine, Prima and Mulberry.  I hope everyone has a great Wednesday!!

The Sweetest Thing

I haven't been feeling all to great this week, I didn't get much accomplished, not even my scrap room got fully cleaned.  Apparently I've developed hypertension over the past year since my last surgery and I'm kind depressed about it.  I stepped down from being a store manager because the stress was getting to me, now it seems like with the stress I'm right back where I was last year, but now I've got panic attacks and hypertension.  great.  So my dr put me on basically a water pill for the hypertension to see if that will do the trick, but I'm concerned that it's secondary hypertension and is being caused by something else.  the paranoid worry wort that I am is now why I'm giving myself the panic attacks and all that other crap.  I turned 30 and now I'm paranoid about health issues, go figure... I just need to get over it!  My best friend is having a terrible time right now dealing with Thyroid Cancer and I'm worried about hypertension, in which I'm probably doing to myself with all the panic attacks!!  sigh... I feel somewhat better now :D  Isn't this layout the cutest :D  The paper is all Crate Paper Restoration and the flowers are prima.  Here's my best friend and I out last month, keep her in your prayers, she needs them!!

Scrap It With a Song (Week 28)

Hello!  Phew what a crazy week it's been so far!  We've had a lot of personal issues going on at work so it's been a little nuts!  Julia was sick last week and one of the manager's sister passed away suddenly and the other manager under me his mom had a stroke, so I've been working a lot!  I was excited to see a new challenge up on the Scrap it with a Song site of course!  I needed a project tonight!  It's funny that I just had these pictures printed up on monday, so it worked out perfectly!  This is my silly husband!  My family has a tradition of hanging spoons on our noses at the dinner table, and it drives him nuts, well let's just say we finally got him to play!!  :D  The picture makes me laugh. hehe.  I used October Afternoon paper of course!  (Ducks in a row, fly a kite and thrift store)  Some vintage postage stamps I had purchased on ebay !  The song this week is "My Guy" by the Supremes!  Yay!

On another topic thank you to Stacy over at the Scrapbooking Cottage!  I won the Bo Bunny prize pack she was giving out!  Yay!  I just ordered the Crate Paper Restoration kit from her too!  Check out her Blog and her Store, she's got great prices!!  Thank you again!!!  Here's what I won!

ArtfulDelight Challenge #1

I went paper shopping today and I am so excited about all my new paper!  I got this Imaginisce line in the mail today along with some pretty prima papers, then I found a scrapbook store about an hour from my house today, and it's probably a good thing that it's an hour from my house because I got the Imaginisce Apple Cider, Echo Park Feels like Home, Bo Bunny Olivia, Bo Bunny Winter Joy, and the Bo Bunny whooligns lines today :D  I'm a happy girl!  I still want the My Little Shoe Box Harmony line & Sassafrasslass Indie Girl papers!  Then for now I'll be content!  But ANYWAY besides my sad sad paper addiction, I created this based off this sketch challenge being held over at ArtfulDelights, go check it out!!!

Circle Time :D

I finally figured out how to scrap the pictures from the fair back in 2006, yes I know it was 4 years ago!  I am super excited on the way this turned out!  I used one of the new accucut dies over at the paper niche and everything just came together so fun :D  I saved my favorite picture to scrap solo, I think it's so neat...
Tomorrow it's back to work!! I hope everyone has a great week and look forward to checking out all your projects throughout the week!

Scrap it With a Song (Born To Be Wild)

Scrap it with a Song's challenge this week is Born to Be Wild!  I was set to go back to work today after my week of vacation, but Julia has come down with strep throat!  So we spent the morning at the children's hospital and now she's lounging on the couch!  So I had to call out from work today and she's on her way to Grandma's tonight!  I still had the sassafrasslass pad out from yesterday, so I used it for this challenge!  This is my bestfriend and her husband at a red light while we were vacationing in coco beach this summer!
