Scrap It With a Song (Week 23)

I recently stumbled upon a challenge blog that I just fell in love with, the concept is awesome.  Scrap it With a Song holds weekly challenges based on a song, and right now for this month they are doing songs from children's movies.  Last week was Jack Johnson (Curious George) Upside down, which not only is an amazing movie, but a great song as well.  I won the challenge!  Well this week it is These Little Wonders by Rob Thomas.  The page I created is a wonderful mix of some great papers, of course the alphabet soup by Mind's Eye, some wonderful Sassafras paper and the yellow check is The Girl's Paperie.
Let it go, let it roll right off your shoulder
Don’t you know the hardest part is over
Let it in, let your clarity define you
In the end we will only just remember how it feels

Our lives are made in these small hours
These little wonders,
These twists and turns of fate
Time falls away, but these small hours,
These small hours still remain

Let it slide, let your troubles fall behind you
Let it shine until you feel it all around you
And I don’t mind if it’s me you need to turn to
We’ll get by, it’s the heart that really
Matters in the end

All of my regret will wash away some how
But I can not forget the way I feel right now

Get Sketchy Card Challenge #56

Ok, this card thing is getting a bit addicting!  Here's a card I made for Get Sketchy!  My copic skills aren't as great as you professionals, but hey I don't think she turned out half bad :D  The light illuminated the stickles on the happy birthday ticket a lot for the picture, not sure why.   I just wasn't in the scrapmood at all this weekend, I did get some pictures printed tonight, so hopefully I can get some mojo working!  I hope everyone has a great week, I know I'm looking forward to a better one that for sure!

Scrap It With a Song (Week 22)

This week has been pretty hard on my, Monday was the 5yr anniversary of my dad's death.  I've been keeping alot of my emotion in and it's been eating me up inside.  When I saw this challenge and played the song in my head it just all hit me and I had to do this.  This is the last picture that I have with my dad, it's actually the last day that I spent with him.  He was sitting on the couch and I came up sat down and told him to smile, I had no idea that it would be our last picture together.  This is after he had come home from the hospital following his stroke, he died of a pulmonary embolism following surgery in September.  I miss him so much...     Love you daddy.

Blue Challenge @ The Paper Niche

Before I tuck myself in for the night, I wanted to share this page!  I made it tonight for the Paper Niche's Blue Challenge.  The paper I got in an October Afternoon Thrift stack that I got.  I weaved it together and then stiched it down.  I'm very happy with the way it turned out!

Twisted Sketches 066

This is another page that I created tonight for a challenge over at Twisted Sketches.  Today is the 5yr ann. of my dad's passing.  I created this page using one of the last pictures that my daughter had taken with my dad.  This is about 3 months before he died when we were out visiting him in California.  He loved her so much and I wish she would of been able to get to know him, but I guess I should be happy she got to meet him!  I used American Crafts fabric, Mind's Eye Alphabet Soup and I made the flower with the Tim Holtz florals diecut.  I hope everyone has a great night.

The Scrappiest Sketch 81

I created this tonight along with a few other pages for The Scrappiest Sketch Challenge #81.  I am in love the Mind's Eye Alphabet Soup and the majority of what I made tonight I worked with that!  The line is amazing :D  Here's the Sketch I had to work with.

My Creative Space

I love looking at craft rooms and creative spaces :D  I get so many great ideas, so I thought I'd share mine today seeing that I just finished cleaning it up from the weeklong craft-a-thon during my vacation!  This is my work table, my flower wall, papers and embellishments.
My computer, with the best golf course view!  As you can see I love Ikea, almost all my furniture is from Ikea.
Here is the TV that I never watch, more paper and Julia's art corkboard.  At least I'll get more use out of the TV with all my shows starting back up!!

Get Sketchy Card Challenge #55

I did my first card sketch challenge last week and made the top 5, pretty cool seeing that I'm not a card maker!  So I figured I'd try it again!  I used the pumpkin from that same set of diecuts below!  Here is the sketch from GS and you can visit the blog here to read more about it!  Come play along!!

Haunted Bird House

my daughter was complaining that we didn't have any halloween decorations to decorate for halloween and that she wanted to get some.  so in my outing to joanns yesterday i picked up this little birdhouse for $1.00.  I also found this awesome bag of halloween diecuts from k&company for $3.99!  So I crackled in cream and lime green, distressed in black and decorated with the diecuts and come halloween paper.. a bit of yes paste, modge podge and stickles and bling you have this "VERY SCARY" haunted bird house :)  So now she can't tell me that we don't have any Halloween decorations!  ha!  And if anyone doesn't know already that Yes! Paste is AWESOME!  I've never used it before and a friend of mine got me hooked on it.  Worth every penny esp. if you are going to be doing anything like this with paper & wood.

Little Jewelry Box

Hello everyone!  Here is what I've been working on today, and part of last night.  My mom is in town visiting and wanted to learn so I picked up these cute little jewelry boxes at Michael's for $2.99.  I crackled in a nice seafoam green and distressed it, embellished with Mind's Eye SO SOPHIA (that I love!) and some findings.  I love them brown and green combo!  I think this is my favorite crackle/distress job yet!  I've got one more that I picked up, I'm debating what I'm gonna do for that one!  And my mom knows how to distress now!!

Meet the Brat.

For those of you who don't know me, this is my daughter julia claire, the source of inspiration and craziness in my life.  She is seven going on seventeen with enough attitude for everyone.  The sunset was so nice tonight and I love taking pictures right before so I grabbed the canon and we went outside to snap a few photos before it got dark.  This one is my favorite and now the inspiration for tonight's page I'm gonna work on.  I want to take her down to the beach to get some shots as well, they always turn out fantastic.  Hope everyone has a great Labor day, I've got to go make a few Key Lime pies!

All About me Challenge - Morning Ritual

Happy Friday Night!!  My plans apparently fell through tonight, but I found this challenge to work on!  I won last month, so I figure I'd give it another shot!  This is a sketch theme challenge from ALL ABOUT ME and it's about your morning ritual.  If I miss out on any of my step's trust me, it's not pretty!  haha!  Ask my coworkers if I don't have time to get my coffee!  IT'S BAD!  Julia went back to school last week so I've had to start getting back up at 6:05 instead of 6:45, what a difference those 40mins make!! I think it's cute, I'll have to start a "Journal Album"  Here's the sketch...

Almost Friday!

I am just so happy that tomorrow is Friday!  I have to work 2 12 hour days and then I am on vacation until the 14th!!  I'm so excited to be off!  Can't do anything but play in the craft room, but hey it's better than work!!  I'm sharing tonight a layout that I did over the weekend.  I made the flower out of duponi silk and it's just lucious, I love how it turned out.  The bazzil dots was cut out with the new accucut die as well as the flourish.  I love this picture of the brat, she was about 2 here.  I'm going back through and trying to finish up pages from when she was younger and she was so cute!  Now she's talking back to me and giving me attitude!  Kids!  Well I hope you all have a great night & happy friday!!!!
